Institute for Social Science Research

The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) undertakes solution focused research addressing societal challenges and is a national leader in advanced interdisciplinary social science and evidence-based policy research. ISSR researchers work with diverse academic disciplines and collaborate with government agencies and the private and not-for profit sectors to address key Australian and international public policy questions that span the life course and require investigation of areas such as social inequality and wellbeing, education, employment, housing, social services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander environments research and international development. The Institute leads advances in social science and evaluation methodology, and is developing new capabilities in health and social data science.

About This Opportunity

As part of a multidisciplinary team you will be undertaking high quality research in educational inequalities in a high achieving, and collaboration focused environment at the Institute for Social Science Research.

Working on a range of projects, beyond a narrow research specialisation, including externally commissioned research projects; you will often work in collaboration with non-university stakeholders for government, industry, the not-for-profit sector and end-user communities.

This position is located at our Long Pocket Campus.

Our Ideal Candidate

The position requires applicants to hold or be nearing completion of a PhD in the applicable field and experience that can contribute to current research in the area of educational inequalities, educational equity and/or transitions from education to employment in the context of a solution-focused social science research to improve educational and labour market outcomes among the most disadvantaged in our society.

Demonstrated high quality research methods for application in empirical social science in one or more of the following areas: quantitative social science; applied statistics; program and policy evaluation is also essential.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position at Academic level A or B.

The remuneration for Academic Level A will be in the range of $67,542 - $90,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.

The remuneration for Academic Level B will be in the range of $95,771 - $113,728 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
