Job Details

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the group of Professor Adrian Mulholland in the School of Chemistry.

The main of the role will be to construct models of enzymes based on phylogenetic analysis and evolutionary relationships, and to perform molecular dynamics simulations of these enzyme models, and to analyse the results to study functionally important properties, and to present the results.

The research associate will build structural models of enzymes and enzyme complexes, based on phylogenetic analysis, structural annotation and homology modelling. Working with computational chemists and computational evolutionary biologists, the role holder will test and evaluate these models, and formulate, set up, perform and analyse molecular dynamics simulations of these models. The research assistant will use these simulations to model the structures, dynamics and functionally relevant properties of the target enzymes.

In order to apply, you will need to have a PhD in Chemistry and previous experience in protein functional analysis, phylogenetic analysis, homology modelling of proteins, knowledge of threading for proteins and experience of biomolecular dynamics simulations and structure-based annotation for enzymes.

For informal queries, please contact Adrian.mulholland@bristol.ac.uk

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
