About the Opportunity

A Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor with expertise in the Sociology of Education and/or Philosophy of Education who has the capacity to teach into an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) curriculum area. An established track record using critical theory/ies will be regarded highly.

You will be expected to teach in the postgraduate program and in the School's Initial Teacher Education programs (undergraduate and Masters' levels) in areas relevant to their expertise. You will have the capacity to pursue a strong and productive program of research relevant to the School's existing and emerging research priorities and to supervise research students. You will also be expected to undertake administration, service, and leadership roles commensurate with their level of appointment.

The School has existing research strengths in the following fields: education policy; social justice and inclusive education; youth studies; pedagogies and learning sciences; and educational technologies. You will further strengthen the School's theoretical and methodological expertise, interdisciplinary research agendas, and global focus on educational issues

Our Ideal Candidate

You will possess a PhD in Education, along with proven innovative teaching contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degree programs.

Applicants should have a national or international research reputation with strong networks to leverage to assist in developing a world class program of research with demonstrated impact. They should demonstrate their ability to contribute to research or lead significant teams, attract significant external funding, and work collaboratively across discipline boundaries. Applicants should be an experienced and engaging teacher and have mastery of current pedagogy in education.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

What We Can Offer

Academic Level B

The remuneration package will be in the range $95,771 - $113,728 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $112,052 - $133,061 p.a.).

Academic Level C

The remuneration package will be in the range $117,319 - $135,276 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $137,263 - $158,272 p.a.).

Academic Level D

The remuneration package will be in the range $141,261 - $155,627 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $165,275 - $182,083p.a.).

Our Selection Process

As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview may be required to present a research and/or teaching seminar to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Research and/or teaching seminars topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
