A post-doctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Neurohormonal Control of Circulation at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics of the Biomedical Sciences Institute, University of São Paulo. The successful applicant will joint a FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation)-funded cardiovascular and integrative physiology group lead by Professor Lisete C. Michelini (project coordinator), and Dr Vagner Antunes (Principal Investigator).

The project will be investigating the effects of aerobic training on the integrity of the blood-brain barrier in autonomic nervous system nuclei directly involved in the control of circulation in experimental animal models of hypertension.

The candidates will be required knowledge and practical experience of research in cardiovascular and neuroscience field, and the following skill techniques are desirable: vascular and brain surgery, recordings of cardiovascular parameters in anesthetized and awake animals, immunohistochemistry and microscopy techniques. Candidates with prior experience in studies performed in animal model of hypertension 2 kidneys-1 clip (2R-1C) are encouraged.

Additional requirements for the applicants are to be highly motivated, collaborative working-team, autonomy to perform and develop lab techniques, advanced knowledge in English language, and availability to undertake scientific missions abroad.

The vacancy is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship stipend of R$ 7,373.10 (BRL) per month, and an addition contingency budget equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship to defray any other expenses directly related to the research activity.
