The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are inviting applications for a position of:

  Associate Professor Deputy Senior Physician or Head Physician within the clinical pathology Service Starting date: to be agreed                                        Place: Lausanne, Switzerland


 

Job mission:


The selected person will be responsible for the cytopathology unit, will provide high quality diagnosis in this area, and a Rapid On Site Examination (ROSE) service for echo-endoscopic guided punctures (EBUS / EUS). She/he will be responsible for updating the procedures and diagnostic and operational procedures in cytology, and will ensure the development of this subspecialty by ensuring a good integration between cytology and surgical pathology within the Service. She/he will contribute to the diagnosis in at least one additional subspecialty area, on-calls and intraoperative frozen section examinations. She/he will lead a translational research program in collaboration with existing groups. She/he will participate in pre-graduate, post-graduate, and continuing education. She/he will be responsible for the training in cytology of pathology assisting physicians and director of advanced training in cytopathology.

Desired profile:

  • Holds a federal diploma of doctor and a specialization FMH in pathology and cytopathology, or of a title recognized by the Federal Commission of the medical professions (MEBEKO), and a doctoral thesis
  • Strong training in surgical pathology, excellent professional experience in hospital, expertise in cytopathology and in one or more other surgical pathology subspecialty
  • Rigorous, collegial, flexible, proactive, with a spirit of openness, scientific curiosity and personal commitment, in the sense of organization and skills in analysis, synthesis and planning
  • Experience in clinical management and team supervision
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and human resources, organizational and managerial skills
  • Teaching ability at pre-graduate and postgraduate levels
  • Ability to conduct a research program likely to attract funding outside the institution
  • Good knowledge of French or ability to acquire quickly.
