Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (HABS) is a world-class Faculty that has a coherent focus on health, well-being and behaviour change, underpinned by a strong commitment to interprofessional education and interdisciplinary research.
More information about the Faculty is available at: habs.uq.edu.au
About This Opportunity
The Associate Dean (Research) is a key member of the Faculty's leadership team and has specific responsibility for the facilitation and promotion of the Faculty's research performance in line with the Strategic Plan of the University. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of strong transdisciplinary research networks that address complex problems of local and global significance and that are capable, through partnerships, of attracting large-scale research funding.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.
Our Ideal Candidate
Applicants should have a demonstrated capacity to provide academic leadership in research, the ability to think and act strategically and possess strong communication, negotiation and liaison skills. You should also have extensive experience in university research and research training, including a strong international profile of research excellence, plus the demonstrable ability to develop meaningful research partnerships within the University, public and private sectors.
It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.
We value diversity and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity to the University. Our Diversity and Inclusion webpage contains further information if you require additional support. Accessibility requirements and/or adjustments can be directed to recruitment@uq.edu.au .
What We Can Offer
This is a full-time role for 3 years at Academic Level E with the possibility for renewal subject to performance. A continuing underlying appointment in one of the schools of the Faculty may be available for a suitable appointee along with the possibility for a fractional role (~0.2FTE) in the school over the term of the Associate Dean (Research) appointment. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
