The Department of Process Engineering offers an outstanding undergraduate programme in Chemical Engineering and undertakes innovative research in the areas of Bioresource Engineering,
Extractive Metallurgy, Separations Technology, Waste Valorisation, Water Technology and Process Monitoring. The Department wishes to appoint an academic who can contribute in one of these areas. A primary requirement for this appointment is proven academic excellence.
In line with the University and the Faculty Employment Equity Plan, only South African citizens from the designated groups will be considered for appointment.

Duties
- Undergraduate teaching;
- Research;
- Postgraduate supervision;
- Technology transfer to the industry and broader community.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with an outstanding academic record from a reputable university, and accredited by ECSA for registration as a Professional Engineer;
- Excellent written and verbal language skills in at least English, with a strong ability to communicate clearly and to teach the courses and modules of a typical undergraduate engineering programme;
- Good interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence;
Lecturer
- A doctoral degree in chemical or metallurgical engineering.
Senior Lecturer
- A doctoral degree in chemical or metallurgical engineering, with at least five peer-reviewed publications in the same field;
- At least four years' post-doctoral experience with evidence of good teaching skills;
- Ability to develop teaching material independently;
- A proven ability to secure research funds and to lead research projects.
Recommendation
- PhD in one of the core research areas of the Department.
