The selection process for an approved post-doctoral fellowship aiming to develop the project entitled: Development of eco-friendly technologies for hydrolysis of biomass and residues of cellulose pulp and paper industry (FAPESP process number 2018 / 07522-6) is opened. This project refers to a Cooperation Agreement between The Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT) and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

The candidate must be available to develop the subproject Development of Strategies for Immobilization and Co-Immobilization of Enzymes involved in Biomass Degradation at Laboratory of Microbiology / Cell Biology of the Biology Department, Ribeirão Preto School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters - University of São Paulo (Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo State, Brazil), under the supervision of the Project Leader, Dr. Maria de Lourdes T. M. Polizeli. The candidate should also be available to develop part of the experiments abroad, in international laboratories specialized in the subject of the proposal.

Candidates must have background in the areas of Microbiology; Cellular and Molecular Biology; Bioprocesses; Fermentation; Enzymology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology. They should have proven experience with publications (articles and / or book chapters) on immobilization / co-immobilization of fungal enzymes (produced by wild and recombinant strains) that degrade lignocellulosic biomass. Enzymatic immobilizations will be performed on different chemical supports with covalent and ionic characteristics, based on agarose; porous supports; carbon nanotubes and supports produced from the biomass itself.

In order to achieve the applications, candidates are requested to send: curriculum vitae summary in pdf, with a list of recent publications demonstrating experience in enzymatic immobilization and heterologous expression of fungal enzymes able to degrade biomass (include links to the ones that are available online).

Applicants should also send copies of the publications upon request. In addition, at least one letter of recommendation is required, which must be sent directly to the above email.

The evaluation will be based on the curriculum and evidence of the required experience. Priority will be given to those candidates who have published scientific articles on the required emphasis, as first author or corresponding author, in indexed and high impact scientific journals. The final result of the selection process will be communicated to applicants by email.

The post-doctoral fellowship opportunity is open to Brazilians and foreigners with a PhD obtained for the past seven years and with outstanding performance. Applicants must comply with the rules of FAPESP Postdoctoral Scholarship Program available at www.fapesp.br/en/postdoc . Those who were selected will receive FAPESP Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the amount of BRL 7,373.10 per month and Technical Reserve equivalent to 15% of the annual scholarship amount to meet unforeseen expenses directly related to the research activity. If the post-doctoral holder lives outside the city where the research institution is located and needs to move, he or she may be entitled to an installation allowance.
