The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Midwifery is a joint initiative of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work (SNMSW) at the University of Queensland and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) of the Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS). The appointee will provide academic leadership in midwifery in the SNMSW and MNHHS. In particular, the appointee will focus on academic leadership of the midwifery programs in the school and clinically in the translation and implementation of research outcomes into maternity and midwifery practice. About This Opportunity

The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Midwifery position is required to lead strategic development in building midwifery research capacity and capability between UQ and MNHHS in midwifery.

The position is based at UQ's St Lucia and Herston Campuses and the RBWH; the successful candidate will have a formal presence at both the UQ School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences and Women's and Newborn Services, RBWH.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Midwifery. In addition to being registered as a midwife it would be beneficial to be registered as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The appointee will have a substantial publication record and a strong track record in securing significant external research funding. They will also have international and national recognition for sustained, outstanding research and leadership in an academic environment in midwifery. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and people management skills and a track record in leading, motivating and successfully managing a team in a collegiate environment will be required. The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer

A full-time, fixed term appointment of five-years' duration at Academic C, D or E will be offered to the successful applicant.
  • The remuneration package for Academic Level C will be in the range of $117,319 - $135,276, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $137,263- $158,273).
  • The remuneration package for Academic Level D will be in the range of $141,261 - $155,627, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $165,276 - $182,084).
  • The remuneration package for Academic Level E will be in the range of $181,964, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $212,898).
